Leclerc would like to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans
F1. Leclerc hinted that he wanted to participate in the 24 hours of Le Mans and race for Ferrari in this legendary race.
Many drivers hope to participate and even win the "Triple Crown". The Triple Crown combines the world's three most mythical races, namely the Monaco Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Indianapolis 500. Currently, only one driver has achieved this feat, Graham Hill.
Several other drivers before Leclerc participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in order to complete this box for a potential triple crown. Michael Schumacher, Jean Alesi, Romain Grosjean, Juan Pablo Montoya, and more recently Fernando Alonso have participated in this race. Fernando Alonso actually won it two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019.
With Ferrari's return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Leclerc says he is tempted by this challenge. However, it will depend on his situation in Formula 1 and the compatibility with the Grand Prix.
« A participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans? I would love it. Formula 1 remains the priority, but if there is a possibility and it doesn't interfere with another race, why not? » declared the Monegasque driver.
Leclerc would therefore join a long list of drivers who have participated in Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. If he were to win this race, it would be possible to see Leclerc attempt the Indianapolis 500 in order to achieve the triple crown. However, he would still need to win the Monaco Grand Prix, in front of his home crowd where he finished 4th this year.
