A potential partnership between McLaren and Red Bull
F1. Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren, reportedly visited Red Bull at the beginning of the month to discuss a potential engine supply agreement.
When Zak Brown stated that he was considering all possibilities regarding their next engine supplier, he wasn't kidding! According to The Independent, the CEO of McLaren met with the engine division of Red Bull Powertrains to discuss a potential agreement.
Currently, the British team is using Mercedes engines, and this will continue until 2025. Starting from the 2026 season and the new engine regulations, it is possible that they might switch suppliers. It was recently announced that discussions have already taken place with Honda, the current engine supplier for Red Bull. The reigning world champion team will end its partnership with the Japanese giant in 2026 to build its own engines, with the support of Ford.
According to the English media, the talks are said to be just beginning. During the presentation of the MCL60 last week, Brown mentioned McLaren's future plans, stating, "We have time to decide what we want to do in 2026 and beyond."
