Alfa Romeo is considering staying in Formula 1

F1. The Italian brand is looking to maintain itself in motorsports and wouldn't be opposed to a new partnership with an F1 team.

"Before the start of the season, Alfa Romeo boss Jean-Philippe Imparato had declared that he would decide on the future of the brand in motorsport by the end of June. As the fateful date approaches, rumors in the paddock are beginning to emerge and it is possible that the presence of the Quadrifoglio in F1 may continue beyond the current season."

Present in F1 since 2018 as a partner of Sauber, after having won several titles in the 1950s, Alfa Romeo will see the Swiss team join forces with Audi from 2026. Following the announcement of Audi's arrival in the top category of motorsport, Alfa Romeo had announced the end of its partnership with the team founded by Peter Sauber at the end of the 2023 season. Since then, the premium Italian brand of the Stellantis group has been exploring all possibilities to maintain a presence in motorsport.

According to several sources, his salvation could come from Haas F1. Discussions between members of the American team and Alfa Romeo executives were supposed to take place in Imola, but with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix being canceled, they reportedly took place in utmost secrecy in Monaco. An association between Haas F1 and the brand with the "Biscione" would make sense, as both teams are technically supported by Ferrari and share the same engine. Furthermore, Haas F1 would have a new significant sponsor in their arsenal, which is not negligible from a financial perspective.

Asked about the possibility of seeing his team partnering with such an iconic brand like Alfa Romeo, Günther Steiner did not deny the initial contacts while downplaying their significance at this stage.

Alfa Romeo is wondering what they are going to do in the future. They came to see us to see how we were doing, it was an introduction and nothing more. I had never met their CEO before. We were introduced, there was nothing to hide. He just said "Hello" and that's it. I don't know what they are going to do in the future, stated the Team Principal of the Kannapolis-based team.

Regardless, a potential partnership between Haas F1 and Alfa Romeo would enable Formula 1 to maintain a prestigious brand alongside Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren, especially the one that allowed Giuseppe Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio to win the first two Formula 1 championships in history.
